Casper Construction was founded on a basic set of beliefs and standards. Everyone on our team is a trained and skilled expert in the trades. We are a team of Contractors who work with their tools, hands on everyday. From the Principle owner and project manager to the newly hired laborer. There is no salesman or middleman.
We spend significant time training before and after setting foot on the job site. Raising our intelligence as tradespeople is a never-ending task. We are always “working to learn” and building on the knowledge taught to us by our fellow craftsmen and mentors.
About Us:
Principal & Founder, Robin C. Casper, began working in the trades as a roofer at the age of 17 while attending community college to become an architect. Installing an estimated 400+ roofs over 4 years, learning from a master roofer. Instead of continuing architecture school, Robin joined the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion, graduating #1 in his class and achieving early promotion.
From there, was deployed to Djibouti Africa where he Performed duties as a Construction Surveillance Technician (CST) - Trusted with safeguarding the accreditation of JTF HOA’S $36,000,000 MILCON project on Camp Lemonier Djibouti,Africa. - Directly supervised 75 Turkish third country nationals, 86 host nation Djiboutians, and 12 cleared American workers in the construction of operations building.
After deployment, Robin entered into the private contracting industry going to Chad, Africa as a tradesman Carpenter for B.L. Harbert International. There he was responsible for the construction of two core levels in the new $465,000,000 U.S. Embassy in N’Djamena, Chad Africa for Overseas Building Operations.
After gaining U.S. Embassy project experience, went to work for Michael Baker International in Tel-Aviv Israel for 3 years as Foreman at existing U.S. Embassy Renovation Project Tel Aviv, Israel. Estimated $60,000,000. Gaining valuable experience in leadership, leading a crew of 20-25 American & local workers to perform structural concrete & rebar repair as well as a new stucco facade.
In 2020, Robin had mostly retired from overseas contracting to spend time with his family in Upstate NY. Sometimes still taking on small jobs overseas such as an emergency response for water damaged core area at U.S. Embassy Ankara, Turkey. As well as Tradesman Carpenter at Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command on Sigonella Air Base. Sicily, Italy. Learning from tradespeople from all parts of the world, on large scale projects, is an invaluable education.
Casper Construction & Preservation LLC was formed in 2025 to apply the skills and techniques gained through these years of experience onto the Central NY region. Specifically and most importantly, preserving the craftsmanship that can be seen of older historic structures and in Historic Districts. Secondly, building new buildings & additions of well thought out design that will stand for centuries into the future. Respecting the skill and effort of tradespeople of the past, and hopefully, motivating new generations of tradespeople to follow in their footsteps.
